Syncthing is a p2p backup program.
Docker
You can use either the linuxserver.io version or the syncthing version. I use the first one.
Permissions
Syncthing does not support copying uid/gid owners. This means your files on the remote will never have the same owners. However it does copy permissions.
This forum thread details some workarounds.
When using the Docker image, you may run into issues with permission on mounted volumes.
For the linuxserver docker file, you can set the PUID and GUID env variables.
To add specific groups, copy out the /etc/group file, modify it, and mount it read only as another volume.
