First things to do after landing and clearing customs:

  1. Withdraw some yen from an ATM.
  2. Buy an IC card such as Welcome Suica or Passmo Passport.

Narita

Transportation
  • The Keisei Skyliner connects to Nippori station and the Keisei Ueno station.
    • You can buy tickets at the information desk in the airport for this.
    • This has reserved seating and is the fastest way into the Tokyo prefecture.
  • The Narita Express (N'EX) connects to a several stations including Tokyo station.
    • This is by JR East. You also need a ticket for this.
    • Tokyo, Shinagaya, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Yokohama, Ofuna.

Haneda

Transportation
  • Tokyo Monorail
    • This costs 500 yen as of 2023. You can swipe in with an IC card, though you can save a few yen with Yamanote-line combined tickets.
    • This connects to Hamamatsucho station on the JR Yamanote line.
