Guide to buying a used motorcycle in Maryland.

Things to check

  • Age and condition of the tires.
  • Chain should look greasy not dry.
  • Make sure handlebars and pedals are not bent.
  • Make sure battery terminals are not rusted.
  • Check the seat condition.
  • Test ride the motorcycle.
  • Make sure the title is clean and matches the bike.

Titling and Registration

  1. Give the seller the money and have them sign over the title.
  2. If the vehicle is under 7 years old, get a notorized bill of sale, otherwise you'll need to pay taxes on the average retail price on nada.com.
  3. Once in your possession, get insurance online. I use Progressive.
  4. Take the title and bill of sale to a tag and title place. I went to Motor Car Tag & Title.
